Vienna
Cafes - While the rest of Europe is catching
up, Vienna has always revered their coffee and their
coffee houses. Some Kaffeehaus have a menu of different
types of coffee as long as your arm.
The Cafés are regularly frequented
by Viennese - for swopping gossip, meeting friends,
taking a break, reading the international newspapers
and for setting the world to rights. Many a plot has
been hatched over a cup of coffee in a Viennese Kaffeehaus.
As a tourist you can sit and watch the local people
go about their daily routine as you enjoy a very special
cup of coffee.
A visit to one of these cafes is a must during your
stay. With your choice of coffee, have some Apfelstrudel
mit Schlag (apple strudel with cream), or
a piece of Sacher Torte (this is a wicked slice of
chocolate cake made famous by the chef in the Sacher
Hotel). In many cafes you can read newspapers from
all over the world.
