MUSIC
Vienna is truly a city of music. It is the home of
the Strauss family and has close ties with Mozart.
The range of concerts on at any one time is truly
amazing and there is something for everyone –
even for those who think they are not into classical
music. Concert tickets for major productions are difficult
to come by, but the number of concerts is so vast,
tickets for some event can be obtained even at the
last moment. Many of the concerts put on with tourists
in mind are in effect a show and can include ballet,
costumed performers etc. Some are also held in exciting
surroundings like Schonbrunn Palace, etc.
The Vienna State Opera House is
one of the most famous in the world with a wonderful
ever-changing repertoire.

Vienna has a host of stunning galleries and museums

VIENNESE BALLS
The most famous of the Viennese Balls is that on New
Years Eve. This is part of the fabric of Vienna and
is attended by many local people but also a galaxy
of visiting stars and dignitaries. The Christmas season
abounds with Balls as the Viennese love dressing up
and the big dance occasion.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS
Vienna has a reputation for its Christmas Markets.
Originally for local residents, the traditional Christmas
Markets have become a major tourist attraction. In
November and December many thousands of tourists arrive
just to enjoy the atmosphere of these brilliant events.
