Vienna
Underground - There are five underground
lines that provide comprehensive coverage of the City:
UI red, U2 purple, U3 yellow, U4 green, U6 brown (But
as yet no U5)!
The Vienna Underground is simple
to use, just check on your map the station you want
to go to, and the last station on that line (to make
sure you go in the right direction).
Tickets are available in stations, some trams, etc.
The handiest approach is to buy a one-day or three-day
ticket which covers all forms of transport. In October
2004, 24 Stunden Wien Karte – a 24 hour Vienna
ticket cost €5.
The VIENNA CARD covers three days
and as well as all public transport, you get reduced
admission rates for leading attractions and discounts
on tours, trips, shops, etc. These can be purchased
in your hotel or Vienna Transport Sales counters for
approx. €17.
A single trip ticket costs about €2. When you
first use your ticket you validate it in the ticket
machine.
